In January 2009, we decided to take an off-season cruise to the Mediterranean.    We took this trip for a number of reasons - it would call at a number of ancient cities which we had not visited before, and it was very cheap!  Here are some of our thoughts and photographs.

Barcelona - Moroccan rock and psychedelic architecture.

Rome - Museums and rain.

Athens - Antiquities and relics.

Ephesus (Izmir) - Ruined cities and carpets.

Cairo (Alexandria) - Pyramids and nervous eating.

Valetta - Crowds, toys and architecture.
